TECHNIQUE AND INTENSIVE CAMP - JULY 6-10, 2008

Ages 10-18 unless accompanied by a parent or adult. There will be two techniques sessions a day, a workout session, and some live wrestling in the evenings.

There will be a session for coaches only in addition to all the other sessions with Gene.

There will be a tournament at the end of the week.

 

 

TECHNIQUE AND COMPETITION CAMP - JULY 13-17, 2008

Campers must be going into at least 7th grade to attend the competition camp. There will be two technique sessions on Sunday and a technique session every morning. There will be competition every afternoon and evening. Every wrestler will be critiqued immediately after every match. Get approximately 14 matches and get critiqued after every match the first tourney.

There will be a session for coaches only in addition to all the other sessions with Gene.

 

LOCATION

Camp Maple Lake is located 45 minutes south of Waverly, NY and 45 minutes north of Bloomsburg and Williamsport, PA. Confirmation will be emailed and directions are on this website under camp directions, complete with a map. If you don't have email, we can mail you a hard copy.

FACILITIES

Camp Maple Lake, originally known as Russ Houk's Wrestling Camps, was the home of the USA World and Olympic teams training camps. This picturesque 107-acre camp with a 17 acre fully stocked lake is a perfect place to learn, train and have fun. There are three wrestling pavilions with two full wrestling mats on each. There is a large swimming pool, weight lifting pavilion and recreation pavilion. There are new weights on the weight pavillion.

 

COST

For your convenience, you can now pay the required camp registration deposit - or the full cost of the camp - with your Visa or Mastercard!

 

You may pay the minimum required deposit of $125.00 or pay the camp registration in full.

If you are paying online, you must still complete the full camp application to finalize your registration. No camper will be allowed to participate without a completed application.

 

If 2 or more siblings are coming from 1 family, you may come for group rate of $325 per person.

 

REFUND POLICY

The $125 deposit is non-refundable. Any refund requests due to illness or injury for wrestling camps must be submitted in writing prior to July 1st. Please do not pay full camp price ($355.00) if you will be recveiving the group rate. There will be a $25.00 service charge applied to any refund requests after July 1st.

 

COACHES

* Coaches bringing a group of 8 or more wrestlers may attend the full camp for FREE!

* Any additional coaches and/or parents may attend for a reduced rate of $195.00

 

SUPERVISION

Our staff will provide excellent supervision on and off the mat. Camp rules are strictly enforced and anyone breaking the rules will be sent home without refund.

 

HISTORY OF CAMP

Maple Lake Originally known as Russ Houk's Wrestling Camp. This is the 45th year of Camp Maple Lake's hosting wrestling camps. The camp started in 1962 and became the U.S. Olympic and Pan-American Games Training Camp from 1964-1973. The Camp was also the host training Center for the Canadian World and Olympic Teams. The camp was started by wrestling legend Russ Houk. Russ was the U.S. Olympic Team Manager and had World and Olympic Greats there such as Dan Gable, Chris Taylor, Rick Sanders, John & Ben Peterson, Stan Dziedzic, Wade Schalles, Gray Simons, Don Behm, Wayne Wells and more. Many of the Camp's structures were built by some of these greats. Come be part of history!
